Photos of Bali by photographer Steve Walsh
In February of 2018 I embarked on my first ever solo trip and joined a co-working retreat for a whole month overflowing with productivity and adventure. I met some amazing and ridiculously inspiring people one of which was Steve Walsh, a photographer from Montreal. At the time I went to Bali I was extremely undecided on what direction I wanted to go in but I knew I enjoyed taking photos, A LOT!
I had only ever shot on auto settings up until January 2018 so a complete amateur. While in Bali I promised myself I would put it on manual and force myself to learn by taking thousands of crappy photos and learning what I did wrong so next time I could do it right. I started getting into the hang of it and being around other photographers gave me that extra motivation and a complete determination to focus and get it right. Steve is a wedding photographer, food, travel, landscape and portrait photographer. Put a subject in front of him and he could not only shoot it, but also draw all the emotion of the moment out. He finally had a second to sift through all the thousands of photos he took and edit his favourite ones. 500 photos that fully capture the essence of Bali. The mess, the chaos, the raw beauty, the culture and gentle people. The epic landscapes and tourist packed places. The western influences and old beauty.
